The Legend Of Zelda Link's Awakening

This very game is an excellent example of a Zelda 2D game. Not only did it bring adventure where ever you go, but it also introduced a system for handheld Zelda games. I have not finished this game though, but it featured excellent gameplay and replay value (Slashing Octoroks has never been so much fun) and exploration for even the most casual gamers. No matter what year it is, it is never too late to go exploring in the mysterious woods. Featuring a mix of puzzle, exploration, and real time gameplay, it will keep you playing until the very end. Plus you would probably go back to it and find the stuff you missed. Making this having a huge replay value. It may not have the excellent subquests of the Dragon Warrior GBC ports (Collecting a yoshi doll for a baby really isn't fun.), but it holds up well on its own. Let'sa go!
The game begins as Link is on a boat during a storm. The boat crashes on Koholint Island. Link's arrival triggers a ton of monsters. Then a woman named Marion brings Link to Marion's home, shared with a man. He gives Link the shield he found, and you set off to get your sword. The beginning is suitable to casual gamers, but for more hardcore gamers, it comes near the first dungeon that gets a bit challenging. After reaching the sword, an owl appears telling to go to the mysterious woods. And that is where the real sense of exploration comes in.
Welcome to the Mysterious Woods. This is where casual and hardcore meet. This excellent mix of exploration, combat, and puzzles is the true heart of the game. You can find the witch in here to (read ahead to get first dungeon key) trade a mushroom into magic to turn the raccoon into Tarin. You can also find alot of shops here. This represents the true feel of the game. Everything in here is pure Zelda, exploration:CHECK puzzle:CHECK music worth humming:CHECK. Everything is here. Some annoying enemies are here too, such as bats that make it annoying and sometimes making you stop and fall down a whole. But nonetheless good.

Super Mario Land 2:6 Golden Coins

This underrated game is a huge step beyond Super Mario Land. The graphics, the sprites, the powerups, the bosses, the worlds. In fact, SML was actually the shortest Mario game, with a total of 16 levels. SML2 is the ultimate supergame for the gameboy. Featuring elements from SMB3 and SMW, this is fairly good. There are many glitches regarding exiting levels though, for example:If you go to any level you beat with a pipe in it (I reccomend Micro Zone 1), you can preform a glitch. This is fairly useful, and not much aftermath occurs if you know how to use it. Go down the pipe, but press start the second you go down. Press select and select a level. You will fall through the surface and find a bunch of random graphics. If you are lucky, a graphic will be the end of level door. If you go farther, the title screen appears as if you never preformed the glitch. Notably, if you do this in the first level of the forest, you will fall into an enemy-less level that resembles the one you would usually enter. It is hard to preform these glitches on purpose, so they really don't matter. This is a good game for all ages. I have a few complaints.
  • There is no levels using air planes, unlike Super Mario Land.
  • Submarines need.
  • Only for casual mood, as hardcore would be asking too much.
Other then that, this is a masterpiece that nobody should leave out of their collection. Until next time, eat your veggies and play your prescribed amount of handhelds.

Sonic Colors for NDS Handheld

Sonic Colors is a 2010 handheld game from the Sonic series. It is considered one of the best Sonic games. The first time I slipped it in my DS Lite, it was very fun. Then I ran into a problem. I was halfway done with the game in 2 hours. Plus I beat the first two bosses without being hit. The problem:too short. It is a sort of good game, for casual gamers. If you were hardcore (or if you are), the game would be fully finished in 3 hours. There isn't much replay value. Next for the critiquing of the modes.

Play Game-
The main game which is really short. When you beat it, it would leave you feeling that it wasn't finished I give it a 7.0, for bringing an enjoyment for original Sonic fans and new fans alike. I do wish that it was more difficult so it would appeal to hardcore gamers.

Time Attack-
All it is, is plainly Eggman's Sonic Sim. Plus the leaderboards have all types of AR (Action Replay) users. I give this 4.0, for being identical to features from another mode and lack of originality. However, if you like the basic experience of Sonic and do not mind the AR users, this is a pretty good mode.

Options-
Self explanitory.

Game Land-
Time Attack, but instead you can lose lives. 3.0.

Gallery:
Event-Watch movies and clips here. I like the presentation of the movies, but the text is bland and you really wouldn't go back for more. 5.0

Sound-
Impressive. Just impressive. Only if you have all the sound though. 6.0

Illustrations-
In game terms, this is pointless. It does, however have a sense of accomplishment after you get all of them. 5.0

This pretty much concludes my first review. I give this game an overall 8.0 for excellent visuals, and for the fact that it feels like a sonic game, unlike some new entries (EX:Sonic Unleashed). I recommend this to fans of Sonic Rush, Sonic Advance, and anyone who likes Sonic. But I do have one thing to say, this doesn't include enough content to be, say 30 dollars. It feels more like 15 dollars. Until next time, eat your veggies and play your prescribed amount of handhelds.
